The budget of Adjara has amounted to about ₾800 million ($294.69 mln) for the first time in its history, Georgia’s western regional Government of Adjara stated on Thursday.  

At the Government meeting, Tornike Rijvadze, the Chair of the Adjarian Government, said the increase of the budget up to ₾1 billion ($369 mln) was planned for the next year, adding funding would be increased in many directions and for all municipalities proportionally as well.

Within the approved budget, the financing has been increased for the Adjarian Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport by ₾2 million ($738,000) and the Ministry of Health by ₾10 million ($3.69 mln), the Government press office noted.

It also pointed out the forecast indicator of payments was increased by ₾38 million ($14mln), while the revenues from income taxes increased by ₾40 million ($14.7 mln), and added that the budget revenues for the two quarters amounted to ₾293,000 ($108,118), constituting 110.3 percent, and income taxes totalled to ₾286,000 ($105,349), making up 112.5 percent of the plan.
