The Georgian foreign office on Friday rejected reports of its dismissal of Ketevan Tsikhelashvili - the Ambassador to Austria and the permanent representative to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe and international organisations located in Vienna - by saying her term of office was expiring by September.

The Ministry said reports of the Ambassador’s dismissal had been “misinterpreted”.

“The decree of the Government of Georgia states that due to the expiration of the rotation period, her authority will be terminated on September 1, 2024”, the statement said.

Tsikhelashvili has held the position since July 2020.
