Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday claimed an alleged plan for assassination of Bidzina Ivanishvili - the founder and Honorary Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party - was “absolutely logical” intent by “specific representatives of the radical opposition”.

Kobakhidze’s comments came after the Georgian State Security Service on Wednesday said it was investigating plans of a “terrorist act” and conspiracy to overthrow the country’s Government, as well as plans for assassinating Ivanishvili.

It was absolutely logical that there were preparations from specific representatives of the radical opposition”, the PM said, adding the public “is aware of what international and local context is behind such plans”, in reference to assassination attempts against the Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and former US President Donald Trump.

“The rest should be determined by the investigation”, he added.
