Public servants from Georgian bodies took part in an International Monetary Fund-led seminar in the capital city of Tbilisi in partnership with the country’s National Bank and the Ministry of Finance on Monday.

Leading analysts from the Fund's Caucasus, Central Asia and Mongolia Regional Capacity Development Centre facilitated the Macroeconomic Analysis/Financial Programming and Policy seminar, which aimed to build the macroeconomic analysis and forecasting capabilities of public servants.

Natia Turnava, the Acting Governor of the NBG, emphasised the significance of the event in promoting professional development of public sector specialists. She also presented certificates to participants and highlighted the ongoing support of the IMF.

We are delighted to host a seminar aimed at advancing the professional development of public sector specialists. I am confident the expertise shared by international professionals will enhance the participants’ skills in macroeconomic analysis and forecasting, ultimately improving their professionalism and the quality of their work”, Turnava said.

CCAMTAC Director Norbert Funke thanked Georgian authorities for their hospitality and cooperation, acknowledging the long-standing relationship between the Fund and the country.

He said more than 750 Georgian officials had benefited from IMF and Vienna Joint Institute trainings.

Not only did Georgia benefit from the IMF, but Georgian experts also actively contributed to the development of the Fund’s capabilities and shared the country’s reform experiences [...] The Government’s focus and initiative on creating professional learning opportunities and expanding regional cooperation is commendable”, Funke said.

He also noted Georgia’s central bank had hosted senior central bankers from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan at the beginning of the year, as part of the CCAMTAC work programme, to exchange knowledge and experiences.
