Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Monday said the Georgian Government's “main priority” was to ensure a “smooth” accession of the country to the European Union.

In her remarks over a meeting of the Chairs of the European Affairs Committees of the EU in Budapest, Botchorishvili noted the event was “another good opportunity to communicate and discuss issues” related to Georgia with the bloc’s member states.

The fact that the process of joining the European Union is not an easy process is proven by the experience of the decades that accompanies the process of the enlargement of the European Union. Therefore, it is important taking into account the past experiences and not only the reality in which today Georgia has to cope with for stability and economic development”, she said.

The lawmaker further added the “main thing” was to “correctly assess the challenges” facing Georgia and Europe and “find ways to deal with these challenges together”.
