Mamuka Mdinaradze, the head of the ruling Georgian Dream party in the Parliament, on Thursday vowed that the country’s European path would “remain intact”.

“Georgia will never change its path, because the mood of our public is what we [the ruling party] implement, and it is incorporated in the constitution - this is the European path and the Georgian Government will never change this path”, Mdinaradze said.

He further highlighted the ruling party’s motto of “with peace, dignity, prosperity, only towards Europe”.

This is our political belief and this is our direction. And if you think that the European path must be through war, misery, at the expense of killing one's own soldiers and citizens, it will not be so”, he noted.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said it would be “incomprehensible” if the European Union refused to open accession talks to the country on the backdrop of recent complications in relationships between the sides.
