Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said the upcoming parliamentary elections, scheduled for October 26, would be a “referendum” between “war and peace” and between “dark past and bright, European future”.

He said the latter could only be achieved through implementation of “decent policy”, “maintenance of peace” and strengthening of the country's economy.

The October 26 elections will be a kind of referendum between war and peace, between the war party and the peace party, between liberal fascism and traditional values, between Georgia's dark past and the country's bright, European future”, Kobakhidze said.

“We are confident that with the support of the Georgian people, the bright, European future of Georgia will win for the ninth time, which can only be achieved through decent politics, maintenance of peace and strengthening of the country's economy”, he added.

Kobakhidze leads the electoral office of the ruling party for the parliamentary elections, with the campaign formally launched last week.
