Georgian police have arrested nine individuals in the capital Tbilisi and other regions of the country on charges of illegal purchase and storage of a large amount of firearms and ammunition as a result of operational and investigative measures conducted over a recent period, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Friday.
The Ministry revealed the law enforcement officers had seized firearms, pistols and cartridges from the arrested persons having criminal record in the past.
The crimes are punishable by three to seven years in prison.
