Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Tuesday convened an extraordinary plenary session of the Parliament for Thursday on the basis of the Speaker Shalva Papuashvili’s demand.
Papuashvili on Monday addressed Zourabichvili to convene the extraordinary plenary sitting on Thursday as the Parliament’s Legal Issues Committee would hear the candidate for the Prosecutor General, who would be voted on at a plenary session on the same day.
The President's Administration said Zourabichvili had called on the Parliament to discuss and vote on the candidate for the member of the Board of the country’s National Bank submitted by the President to the Parliament in May among other “probable topics” included in the agenda of the extraordinary sitting so that the process of staffing the NBG’s Board “is not further delayed”.
The Parliament's Legal Issues Committee on Friday will also discuss the bill on amnesty proposed by the ruling Georgian Dream party aimed to “seriously reduce” the number of prisoners across the country.
