The Georgian Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture on Monday said it had widened the list of accepted papers for demonstrating adherence of imported vehicles to emissions requirements and added two new countries to the list of origins for imported cars with simplified import procedures.
The changes relate to regulations for importing vehicles of the Euro 5b emissions standard, with the increased variety of paperwork accepted for their emissions compliance providing importers with “more flexibility” in obtaining the required documentation, it added.
The body noted it had also expanded the range of accepted paperwork for vehicles produced in, or for, the United States market and imported to Georgia.
In the other novelty, Israel and China have been added to the list of countries importers can bring cars in from without requiring a Ministry ruling on registration of vehicles older than one year.
