Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday condemned the attack on the former United States President Donald Trump, who was shot on Saturday during the election rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

In his social media post, Kobakhidze said “violence has no place in politics”, wishing Trump “a swift and complete recovery”.

Shalva Papuashvili, the Georgian Parliament Speaker,  also said he was “deeply shocked” by the violence that “almost claimed” the life of the US Presidential candidate, adding Georgia “stands with the American people”.

Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and the Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, expressed solidarity with “friendly” American people, adding the attack on the presidential candidate Trump “shocked civilised society”. Kaladze wished American people “peace and to make their own choices in a peaceful, fair environment.”

Former President Donald Trump was shot and injured in the ear Saturday evening while speaking onstage at his rally in Butler by a 20-year-old gunman, who also killed one spectator and wounded two others critically. The US Secret Service said it had shot the suspected assailant dead.
