The “strategic partnership” and years-long “successful cooperation” between Georgia and the United States were discussed on Friday by the country’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Uzra Zeya, the US Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights, who is on an official visit to Georgia.
The meeting also highlighted “challenges arising in the recent period”, the Government Administration said.
The PM confirmed his Government's commitment to “rejuvenating” bilateral relations, pointing out the “special importance” attached, in this process, to “reciprocal steps and pragmatic, rational and fair approaches”.
The officials also reviewed the upcoming parliamentary elections in October and the electoral environment in Georgia. Kobakhidze emphasised that “free, fair, and transparent” elections and a “pluralistic” electoral environment would be ensured in the country.
