Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday held a farewell meeting with Mark Clayton, the outgoing Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Georgia, as the latter’s diplomatic term in the country comes to a close.
The meeting emphasised the strategic partnership between the two states, noting the “significant contribution” of the UK to the “strengthening of Georgia's state institutions”, the Government Administration said, with the PM thanking Clayton for support provided to the country.
The UK Government last week appointed Gareth Edward Ward as the new Ambassador to Georgia, with the diplomat set to assume the position next month.
