Natia Turnava, the Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, has participated in the 94th annual meeting of the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, the national body said on Thursday.

The primary focus of the discussions was on the experiences of expansion of cross-border payments in markets in countries with transitioning and developing economies.

Central bank representatives engaged in conversations surrounding complexities of payment systems and identification of risk zones within financial systems.

Additionally, leaders of the central banks visited an innovative hub of the Bank for International Settlements, where they reviewed steps taken to mitigate risks associated with use of artificial intelligence in financial services.

Turnava said annual meetings of the BIS served as an “invaluable platform” for central bank managers to exchange experiences and insights.
