The Ministry of Defence of Georgia on Thursday said it had hosted Partner 2024, a demonstration exercise involving state agencies in crisis and emergency situations, in Khelvachauri, in the western region of Adjara.
The exercise was organised by the National Guard of the Defence Forces and involved a demonstration of crisis management focusing on flood response with National Guard reservists and firefighters from the Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The participants isolated a crisis area, established a water wall, monitored the river, evacuated local population and safeguarded monuments of cultural heritage in the scenario, it added.
Similar exercises were also held in Tetritskaro in southern Georgia, the body added.
The drills also involved observers from the Polish Territorial Defence Forces, Lithuanian National Defence Volunteer Forces and the United States’ Office of Defence Cooperation.
