The Gender Equality Council of the Parliament of Georgia on Tuesday discussed the progress and challenges in the implementation of the state concept of women's economic empowerment, the legislative body said.
The meeting, chaired by Nino Tsilosani, the Head of the Standing Parliamentary Council for Gender Equality, brought together representatives from ministries to review the results of the monitoring of the implementation of the concept.
Following the meeting, Tsilosani announced the Council would prepare a new document to address the issue.
Economic empowerment of women is a top priority for us [...] There has been great progress in the programmes, projects and activities aimed at empowering women economically. All the recommendations discussed today, as well as the remaining challenges, will be compiled into a new document by the Council”, she said.
Tsilosani added the document would be forwarded to the Gender Equality Council of the next Parliament for further action.
