Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday met with Ukrainian children of servicemembers of the country’s National Guard from Kyiv who joined a summer camp with the financial support of the Georgian Government.
The Government Administration said Kobakhidze, Education Minister Giorgi Amilakhvari and Archil Talakvadze, the Chair of the Friendship Group of the Parliament with Ukraine, hosted the children for a dinner and reaffirmed the Government’s support for them.
The body added the young participants would spend two weeks in the summer camp engaging in “cultural, cognitive and entertainment activities”, while also taking part in tours.
Initiated by the Georgian PM, the camp is hosting two groups of students from Ukraine - children of servicemembers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard, from Kharkiv and Kyiv.
Kobakhidze revealed the initiative for the camps at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin in June, telling the event children were among groups “most vulnerable to the devastating effects” of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
