The Georgian Interior Ministry on Tuesday said a delegation of its employees had last month joined teams working to ensure security during the ongoing UEFA European Football Championship in Germany.
The Georgian professionals were invited to Germany at the initiative of the German Ministry of Interior and Public Affairs and the Federal Police to participate in providing security measures for matches of the tournament.
The body said two employees of the administration of the Ministry worked at the International Police Cooperation Centre operated for the purpose, and participated in support operations with local police during matches as mobile groups at stadiums, in areas of fan gatherings and for fan-organised matches.
It added 10 employees of the Patrol Police Department had also assisted German police officers in “effective communication” with Georgian fans and in “maintaining law and order” at airports and railway stations of different cities hosting the competition.
