Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Monday wished “every success and the best of luck” to Hungary as the country took over the presidency of the Council of the European Union.
“I wish every success and the best of luck to Hungary, a good friend and supporter of Georgia, as it takes over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. I look forward to working with you to enhance Georgia-EU cooperation and bring our country closer to the EU membership”, Darchiashvili said in a social media message.
The presidency of the Council rotates among EU member states every six months. The presidency chairs meetings at every level in the Council, helping to ensure the continuity of the EU's work in the body.
