The Georgian Parliament on Thursday overrode President Salome Zourabichvili’s veto on amendments to regulations of voting at the Central Election Commission of the country and reinstated it in its original version, the Parliament press office said.
Based on the bill, approved in its third hearing, if decisions at the Commission fail to be made during voting that requires at least two thirds quorum of its full membership, repeat votes will take during the same session.
Decisions in the repeat voting will be considered adopted if they are supported by the majority of the full composition of the CEC.
The amendments also determine that the work or remuneration of a temporary members of the District Election Commissions, a members of the auxiliary or technical staff of the District Election Commissions and a members of the Precinct Election Commissions may not adversely affect registration in the unified database of socially vulnerable families, suitability for social assistance, access to social or state credit, distribution of social benefits and participation in state employment promotion programme or sub-programmes
The Parliament had initially adopted the amendments in third hearing on May 30, with 80 votes, before while the President vetoed them on June 13.
