Georgian Deputy Justice Minister highlights domestic reforms for gender equality at UN Public Service Forum

Tamar Tkeshelashvili, the First Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia, on Wednesday highlighted domestic reforms in public administration and the area of gender equality during a panel discussion at the United Nations Public Service Forum in Incheon, South Korea.

The Ministry said Tkeshelashvili emphasised the importance of increasing the role of women in the public sector, their involvement in decision-making processes and the Georgian Government’s achievements in the area.

The empowerment of women is one of the main priorities of the Government. As a result of the reforms, 47 percent of management positions in the public service are held by women. Additionally, 59 percent of the Ministry’s employees are in managerial positions”, she said.

The state continues to enhance the involvement of women in public service, oversee the processes through relevant governmental and parliamentary councils and promote gender mainstreaming”, the Deputy Minister added.

Running between Monday and Wednesday, the Forum aimed to share best practices, achievements, challenges and future prospects in public administration and service delivery, with the next edition set to be hosted in Georgia in 2026.
