The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs on Wednesday said 24 Georgian and foreign citizens had been arrested on drug-related charges in an effort carried out with police departments and the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The charges include drug-dealing for 11 of the arrested, as well as production and possession of illegal drugs and their attempted distribution.
Law enforcement officers seized drugs following controlled purchases from the individuals, carried out with audio and video recordings. The seized drugs include cocaine, buprenorphine, methadone, MDMA, Alpha PVP, ketamine, methamphetamine and marijuana, while officers also recovered money, electronic scales and weapons, the Ministry said.
The arrested individuals face up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
