Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Giorgi Amilakhvari, the country’s Minister of Education, on Monday met Ukrainian children involved in a summer camp experience in the country with the financial support of the Government.
The Government Administration said on Tuesday Kobakhidze hosted the children to a dinner at the camp, while the young participants gave the Government head presents and performed songs both in Georgian and Ukrainian languages.
The camp is hosting two groups of students from Ukraine - the children of servicemembers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard, from Kharkiv and Kyiv.
Over the course of two weeks, the students will be involved in cultural, educational and entertaining activities - including tours to the capital city of Tbilisi as well as Bodbe, Gremi and Nekresi monasteries in the eastern region of Kakheti.
Kobakhidze revealed the initiative for the camps at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin earlier this month, telling the event children were among groups “most vulnerable to the devastating effects” of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
