Ongoing tabletop exercises in civil security in Georgia's central-western resort town of Borjomi were reviewed between Temur Mghebrishvili, the Head of the Emergency Management Service of Georgia’s Interior Ministry, Massimiliano D'Antuono, the Italian Ambassador to Georgia on Friday.

The Ministry said the officials visited the Operational Management Center of the Emergency Service and were introduced to its work. The Ambassador was accompanied by Fabiola Albanese, the Deputy Head of Mission.

The tabletop exercises, delivered within the framework of the EU funded programme Prevention Preparedness Response to Natural and man made Disasters in the Eastern Partnership countries - phase 3 (PPRD East 3) for local self-government representatives in Borjomi municipality, were also attended by Italian experts.

The exercise served the aim of ensuring preparedness for preventing forest fires at local and national levels and testing emergency management plans. It ended with an exhibition of equipment and hardware.

Under the auspices of the PPRD programme, more than 100 employees of the Emergency Service have undergone training since 2020.
