A team of the Georgian Defence Forces on Tuesday returned from the Cateran Yomp, a 24-hour charity walk involving injured troops from around the world in Scotland, with five medals under their belt after marking a successful appearance at the competition.
After collecting three gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the event, the team was welcomed by Paata Patiashvili, the country’s Deputy Minister of Defence, who congratulated the group.
Hosted between June 6-12 in Perthshire in central Scotland, the charity involved participants in a long-distance march over a distance of about 88 kilometres across harsh terrain in highlands areas.
The competition also featured veterans and civilians from the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Poland, Spain and Ukraine.
The event, organised by the Allied Forces Foundation, aims to rehabilitate and resocialise injured servicemembers and enable them to share their experiences of overcoming challenges.
