Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister of India, on Wednesday expressed desire to strengthen relations with Georgia, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.

Jaishankar’s comment in a social media post followed his Georgian counterpart’s Ilia Darchiashvili’s statement, who on Tuesday congratulated the official on being reappointed to the position in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration following a weeks-long election, with results declared last week.

In his congratulatory social media post, Darchiashvili said he anticipated working together with his Indian counterpart “to further strengthen friendship and cooperation between our countries”.
