The Committee for European Integration of the Georgian Parliament on Tuesday supported the Government’s energy policy, the legislative body said.

It added the document outlined the policy until 2030 through long-term visions and strategies for economic security, environmental protection and climate change.

The body said the document was “closely aligned” with the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan and included goals on reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and increase of energy generation from renewable sources.

It also involves promotion of energy efficiency and enhancement of energy system interconnection both within the country and with neighbouring nations.
