Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday presented a report on the implementation of the Government’s programme for “democratic, sustainable and peaceful” development of the country to the Parliament.

The report said the Government was “unwaveringly implementing” the agenda and carrying out “important reforms” to “effectively realise” the goals defined by the programme.

It also noted “institutional strengthening” of the country was continuing in directions of “strengthening of economic stability and security, development of social policy, improvement of good governance, justice and human rights protection”.

In 2023, Georgia was granted the status of a candidate country for European Union membership. This historical decision took the process of the country's accession to the European Union to a completely new level”, the report said.

It also stressed the Government “actively” continued to work to “strengthen the country's sovereignty and ensure territorial integrity”, as well as de-occupation and peaceful resolution of the 2008 Russia-Georgia conflict.

The document also reviewed steps taken in public safety, law and order, and protection of human rights, noting a reform of the criminal police system had been implemented, while “tangible results” had been achieved in improving response to gender-based violence.

The report also said the domestic economy maintained “stability” and showed “one of the highest rates of growth in Europe and the region”.

Kobakhidze will present a detailed version of the report to the Parliament in person on June 28.
