Rati Bregadze, the Minister of Justice of Georgia, and his Czech counterpart Pavel Blažek on Thursday launched the second consecutive Czech-Georgian Legal Forum in Prague, with the Georgian official emphasising the “importance and tradition” of the event in his opening remarks.
The event covered discussions on human rights protection, harmonisation of national legislations with EU law, training of penitentiary and probation system employees, justice system efficiency reforms, the role of lawyers in human rights protection and diversion and mediation in criminal law.
The Ministry said the Forum aimed to strengthen the legal systems of the two countries, deepen cooperation, share experience and discuss initiatives for the ministries and legal professionals.
Bregadze also noted the role of sectoral cooperation between the countries for Georgia’s European integration process.
The Forum was established in 2022 during a meeting of justice ministers of the two countries and is hosted alternately by Tbilisi and Prague.
