The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia on Friday said police had arrested an individual on charges of illegal purchase and storage of weapons and ammunition as part of an ongoing investigation into a cyber attack against the Interior Ministry, Justice Ministry and the Parliament.
The body said the attack had involved “seizure of a critical information data or system”, prompting the Ministry’s Central Criminal Police Department to launch the investigation.
It added law enforcement officers had conducted search operations in the capital city of Tbilisi and the Black Sea city of Batumi that led to the discovery of illegal firearms and ammunition in a residential flat located Abashidze 22 in the capital.
