The Georgian Sports Ministry on Saturday handed over 12 units of karts to the country’s Automobile Sport Federation to promote karting in Georgia, for which the Ministry had allocated ₾109,458 ($40,997).
The demonstration race was organised by nine young drivers, aged 14-17, who became the winners of the Ministry’s Become a Racer project, and are set to participate in the Georgian Karting Championship in 2024 with the newly purchased karts, the Ministry said, noting it would cover all costs for the championship.
The race was attended by Deputy Sports Minister Ioseb Baghaturia, President of the Automobile Sport Federation Aleksandre Lomadze, and famous Georgian motorsports racing driver Davit Kajaia at the Lilo Arena, where an academy for karting will be built, with the support of the Ministry.
