Police arrest five for illegally crossing Georgian border from Turkey

Employees of the Georgian Border Police, Patrol Police and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of Georgia detained five individuals for illegal group crossing of the state border unlawful transportation of migrants, the Border Police said on Friday.

The body said the investigation had found an individual from a foreign country was involved in the transportation of the migrants from Turkey.

It added the accused individual had bypassed passport control by hiding the migrants in a truck they were driving.

The crime is punishable by four to eight years of imprisonment.
