Levan Kobiashvili, the President of the Georgian Football Federation, on Saturday said implementing various infrastructure projects and successfully hosting the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Georgia last year were reflected in the FIFA ranking, which promoted the country by two levels.
This is the path that ultimately leads to the long-awaited success. These successful outcomes indicate that we are on the right track”, Kobiashvili told the media, highlighting the merits of GFF and domestic football clubs in this success.
Georgia advanced to 75th place from 77th in the FIFA ranking, following the country’s win over Luxembourg in the semi-finals of the UEFA Euro 2024 playoffs on March 21.
The national team will face Greece on Tuesday at the home stadium in Tbilisi in the playoff final of the tournament.
