Georgia hosts 11th Women in Policing International Conference

Georgia hosted the eleventh international conference Women in Policing, which is aimed at strengthening the capabilities of female law enforcement officers and increasing their motivation. The opening ceremony of the conference on Tuesday was attended by Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, the Georgian Deputy Interior Minister.

In his address, Darakhvelidze highlighted gender equality and protection of women's rights as priorities of the Interior Ministry, emphasising the challenge of being a female police officer and their increasing role in the police system, the Ministry said.

At the opening event, attended by Robin Dunnigan, the United States Ambassador to Georgia and Sarah Rupert, the Director of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Bureau Office in the country, Darakhvelidze pointed out the role of women police officers in the process of executing gender-sensitive justice.

The Deputy Minister also thanked the US Ambassador for her contribution to the institutional development of the Interior Ministry.
