Parliament Committee Chair highlights importance of NATO Sec Gen’s visit to Georgia

Irakli Beraia, the Chair of the Defence and Security Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Monday highlighted the upcoming visit of the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to the country by saying the development was a “manifestation” of the alliance’s “clear political support” for Georgia.

“Stoltenberg’s visit is a manifestation of clear political support for our country, as well as a recognition of the success of Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration process”, Beraia said.

The lawmaker stressed the visit was “critically important” on the backdrop of a “deteriorating security situation”.

Stoltenberg will meet President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday as part of his visit.
