Relations between Georgia and Sweden and opportunities for strengthening parliamentary cooperation were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Georgian Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee Chair, and Anna Lyberg, the Swedish Ambassador to the country.
Samkharadze informed Lyberg about the ongoing work for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia, implementation of the steps outlined by the European Commission for opening European Union accession talks with the country and future plans, the Parliament said.
The meeting also focused on regional security matters, the security environment in the South Caucasus and the difficult situation in the Russian-occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) regions of Georgia.
The officials also reviewed topics of domestic politics in Georgia.
