Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday discussed bilateral cooperation in defence and security with Marjan Šarec, the visiting Defence Minister of Slovenia.
The Head of the Georgian Government extended his gratitude to the Slovenian Government over its “unwavering political and practical support” for Georgia's foreign policy priorities and its sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Government press office said.
The meeting also reviewed the Government's work to obtain the European Union membership candidate status later this year, with Garibashvili expressing his readiness to further strengthen partnership with Slovenia in the process of his country’s Euro-Atlantic integration.
He also congratulated Šarec on Slovenia’s election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
