The General Inspection of the Georgian Interior Ministry has arrested an employee of the Shida Kartli Police Department for illegal purchase and storage of firearms and transporting of “especially large quantities” of excise-free tobacco, the state body said on Tuesday.
The body said police officers had seized excise-free cigarettes, firearms, cartridges, muzzles and cash during the search of the suspect’s house.
The crime is punishable by up to eight years in prison.
