Mountainous regions of Georgia will welcome visitors with a range of activities introducing local cuisine, dance, folklore, games, horse races and more as part of Highlander Week celebrations for the second time this year, with the programme launching on Saturday.
For locals and visitors of Svaneti and Kazbegi in the north-west and north respectively, events including archery, volleyball and badminton, a masterclass of brewing local beer and making khinkali dumplings, horse riding and performances of the Sukhishvilebi National Ballet will be hosted.
In the north-eastern Tusheti region, they will be welcomed to exhibition and sale of local entrepreneurs' products, horse racing, craft masterclasses, games, and tasting of traditional cuisine by Georgian chefs and local families.
In their turn, Racha, Guria and Imereti regions in the west will host off-road and cycling competitions, zipline action, master classes, entertainment shows and bonfire storytelling events for children, in addition to traditional horse racing and performances by bands and individuals.
Local and celebrated Georgian chefs will prepare a variety of meals and lead master courses throughout the day, while evening activities will include campfire and on-stage performances by popular local and invited Georgian artists.
This year’s edition of the festival will host two days of the programme, on July 15 and 22.
