Police investigating minor’s death in Tbilisi

The Georgian Interior Ministry on Friday said it had launched an investigation after a 12-year-old was found dead in the Didi Dighomi district of capital Tbilisi.

The minor’s body was found after she went missing late on Thursday in the same district, with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s Georgian service reporting she had been found with a “slight injury” in her neck area.

A local cited yard-keepers in the district as saying they had seen the teenager after she left school on Thursday. She was later reportedly seen being followed by an individual by other children. 

The victim’s grandfather said she had taken a walk with a relative late on Thursday, before her disappearance.

The investigation is running with the article of “premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances”, with the minor’s body sent for autopsy.
