Armenian parliament speaker Alen Simonyan, who is on an official visit to Georgia, on Thursday said development of “good neighbourly” relations with Georgia was one of the priorities of his country's foreign policy.
In a meeting with his Georgian counterpart Shalva Papuashvili, Simonyan noted Armenia was “very interested” in establishing strategic relations between the two states.
Armenian-Georgian historical relations are based on common values, compounded by the steps towards the future of our countries, which we are taking in the direction of democracy”, Simonyan said.
Simonyan noted he had discussed ties in education, culture, transport and issues related to the countries’ involvement in international infrastructures with his Georgian counterpart.
He also made remarks about the role of Georgia and Armenia in establishing peace in the South Caucasus region.
