Georgian finance minister Lasha Khutsishvili on Tuesday said the visit of Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev to Georgia on Monday had contained “very important messages” for the country and its long-term development.
Khutsishvili noted Georgia had the “ambition and potential” to play a “very important role” in the South Caucasus region, both in terms of contributing to security and economic development.
"All the projects discussed during the said visit are very important not only for Georgia but also for the whole region, the current situation in the region and the economic [circumstances]”, he noted, adding the initiatives would ”give the country an opportunity to further strengthen its role in the region” and “receive very important economic benefits”.
Earlier today Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili said he had discussed “long-standing strategic partnership, prospects and huge potential” between Azerbaijan and Georgia during Aliyev’s visit.
