Olaf Scholz: Germany will help Georgia on its way to Europe

Scholz underlined that Georgia itself has experienced Russian aggression, with the parts of Georgian territories being under Russian control until now. The German official welcomed that Georgia had supported the United Nations resolution on March 2, condemning Russia's aggression towards Ukraine, also hailing the Georgian government’s stance to prevent all attempts from Russia to evade financial sanctions imposed by the international community amid its invasion of Ukraine.  Photo: Government Administration.

The chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz,  said on Wednesday at the joint press conference with Irakli Garibashvili, the Georgian prime minister, that Germany would help Georgia on its way to Europe.

The European Union has been doing everything to support Georgia in fulfilling the criteria necessary for receiving the membership candidate status, Scholz noted, adding the country would have “all kinds” of support for legal and political measures to be implemented.
