Irakli Kadagishvili, the Chairman of the Rules and Procedural Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, on Monday said the European Commission “strongly” supported the country’s path of integration with Europe.

Kadagishvili stressed Georgian authorities were aiming at the end of the year as the timescale for fulfilling a number of directions provided in the 12-point conditions outlined by the European Union for granting the country the membership candidate status.

The European Commission once again strongly supports the path of Georgia's integration with Europe. A number of achievements that Georgia has made along the way, and the compatibility of our legislation - especially the policy pursued in the socio-economic direction - has been assessed at a high level in the light of the challenges that the pandemic and later the war [in Ukraine] have created, including for Europe. Under these conditions, Georgia is maintaining a very high pace”, the Parliament official said.

The European Union published its annual Association Implementation Report on Georgia on Friday. The report reviewed Georgia’s implementation of reforms under the EU-Georgia Association Agreement over the past year.
