Ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party head Irakli Kobakhidze has expressed his concern over the latest developments in Ukraine, pointing out that the Georgian government will ensure the safety of their citizens in Ukraine.

Kobakhidze said that Georgia would like to contribute to a prevention of war in Ukraine, which, he noted, "is not easy."

We will make any decision, be it a visit or a statement, based on the developments [in Ukraine]. We have issued a very vocal statement with the resolution regarding the current events in Ukraine," the GD head explained.

On February 1, the Georgian parliament approved a GD-initiated resolution in support of Ukraine amid the Russian military buildup at its border.

The Georgian MFA announced yesterday the Georgian embassy and consulates in Ukraine had switched to an emergency working mode.

A hotline has been set up for the citizens of Georgia in Ukraine via the number +380 (63) 376 77 68; +380 (93) 761 17 17.
