Georgian Ambassador to the United States David Zalkaliani on Friday said the Department of State’s 2022 Investment Climate Statements “clearly” emphasised the “remarkable achievements” of Georgia, "endorsed" by the data of many international rating agencies "in almost all fields".
In his remarks Zalkaliani stressed the report highlighted the importance of “deepening” the bilateral investment relations between Georgia and the United States.
The statement highlights the progress achieved by our government in recent years in terms of business freedom and notes that “Expropriation disputes are not common in Georgia, although under the previous government there were cases of property transfers that lacked transparency and allegedly were implemented under coercion”, Zalkaliani said.
The 2022 Investment Climate Statements released by the United States Department of State on Thursday said the National Bank of Georgia and Georgian financial institutions were acting "fully in accordance" with the financial sanctions imposed by the United States and others on Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine.
The report noted that overall, business and investment conditions in the country were “sound”, and Georgia “favourably” compared to the regional peers.
