Javier Colomina, the NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, on Friday congratulated Georgia with being granted the perspective of accession to the European Union.
The NATO official sent congratulations “to all Georgian friends” and shared a statement by Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, who congratulated Georgia in his tweet on the “historic moment”.

The European Council on Thursday granted the European Union membership candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova, and granted Georgia a “European perspective” before assessing how the country meets a number of conditions for receiving the membership candidate status.
