Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Zeki Konukoğlu, the Chair of Sanko Holding Board of Directors and Honorary President and Head of the Energy Council of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, on Friday discussed Georgia’s business environment and prospects of turning the country into a regional hub.
The Government Administration said the Georgian Prime Minister had emphasised the creation of a special economic zone in Georgia, the strategic location of the country and its “favourable business environment” in the discussion.
Garibashvili noted his Government had developed the initial strategy document for transforming the country into a hub, also noting Georgia’s “leading positions” in the rankings of a number of influential international organisations of economic analysis.
The head of the Government also highlighted the country had signed free trade agreements with both the European Union and China, as well as with countries in the Black Sea region, which allowed Georgia “free access to many major markets”.
Sanko Holding is the largest Turkish company operating in 11 different sectors and exporting to over 100 countries. It also has branches in a number of states around the world.
