BC Kutaisi wins Georgian Basketball Super league after win over Olympus

BC Kutaisi earned the Georgian Basketball Super League title after taking all three matches of the final series against BC Olympus on Saturday.

Coached by Kote Tugushi, the club earned its third win in the series in a tense match against their counterparts, with the score standing at 73:65 in the last minute of the game.

Mistakes from Olympus players and good defence from the Kutaisi team ensured their win over the rivals coached by David Rogava, to claim the title. Adrian Bowie, with 23 points and six blocks, was the highest scoring player on the winning team, with Eddie Ekiyor of Olympus earning 30 points.

With the victory, Kutaisi have won the Georgian championship for the second time, following the 2015 title.

Tugushi was named the Best Coach of the Super League season, with Kutaisi’s Kakha Jincharadze named the Most Valuable Player. The prize for the Best Young Player went to Giorgi Ochkhikidze of Batumi.
