The Georgian Culture Ministry on Wednesday announced the formation of the National Competition of Composers with the aim of supporting the development of talent in the field.
Seeking to develop the national composing art and promote creative activity of composers, the competition will be organised by the Jansug Kakhidze Tbilisi Centre for Music and Culture with a total budget of ₾65,000 ($21,454/€19,685).
The biennial celebration will welcome Georgian citizens as well as their counterparts from abroad, with the contest set to be held separately for those aged between 17-25 and artists over 25.

The first edition of the National Competition of Composers will take place in the coming fall. The Ministry will begin accepting applications from September 20, with the registration of entrants to run through October 20.
The results of the competition will be published on the official Facebook page of the Ministry no later than December 15, the national body said.
